St.Peter Cathedral Rome

We had the most horrible weather when visiting the cathedral, buckets of rain poured down on us and we had to wait for ages in a queue just to get in and then again for the chance to climb up to the cupola, it was still amazing and well worth it! And....it presented me with plenty of chance for my reflection shots

A lone Japanese dragonfly :-D

Beautiful Pic. The dragonfly is perhaps a distant relative of the one I snapped in the garden...:

Visions of Pompei in October

View all 9 photos...
Well, finally the photos from Pompei are up, still have Nemi, Rome and Naples to go but all in good time We had an amazing time in Pompei, the weather was gorgeous, probably around 30 degrees centigrade with a gentle breeze blowing in from the sea. Instead of doing the normal two hour tourist walk we of course went for the full, *climbing up hills, looking into every house and attempting to scale the walls* walk resaulting in a severe shortening of said Gunnellas feet ;-P But it was amazing!! Was a bit miffed though at how many of the condos were closed to the public and the archaeological digs were completely off limits... I´ll have to return full force having done the proper preparations and do my research into pompeian graffiti, past and present, sometime soon... lets see, perhaps after a phd here with research in Japan I could be a fellow at Berkley and do research in Pompei, blink blink....

Warning though, the last photo has the capability to offend, for those whose curiosity has now been aroused view it full size and aim for the upper right hand corner

sounds like a good education Thu 3-Nov-2005 06:38

St. Maria in Trastever
Lego mini Police
St. Peters Cupola through a keyhole
The last image is very intresting, there is literally this keyhole on an entrance to one of the gardens owned by the knights of the Maltese Falcon up above the Foro Romano, and through it one sees precisely over to the cupola of St. Peters schurch, Vatican.... Intresting as the Knights have their own country just like the Vatican ... humm..

Halldors mother, stepfather and step grandmother all celebrated their birthdays together, so it was a 180 year birthday party. Seeing as his stapfather is Danish it was an international feast. It was held on Viðey, a small island just outside Reykjavik and I was the official photographer Beaming smile

Great fun!

looks like a great place to have a gathering! Wed 27-Jul-2005 05:49

Nice pictures. It brings back memories, because I celebrated my ex mother-in-law's birthday there once. Icelanders sure know how to party. It looks like you had a lot of fun. Time to visit my friends soon. Thanks, Gunnella Sat 30-Jul-2005 10:09
